There are a lot of things that you need to go hiking but sometimes it’s difficult to know exactly what to bring without forgetting the necessities or being weighed down with things you won’t end up using.
First, think about where you’ll be hiking. Make sure you know the altitude and the terrain you’ll be on. Make sure to buy only what you need and no more. Get advice, and ask around about what other people recommend. A few items that are absolutely essential are a map, compass, water, a headlamp, a first aid kit, food, matches, a fire starter kit, insect repellent, and binoculars. Some clothing items that will be useful are boots, hiking socks, gloves, long sleeves shirts and rain gear. It takes a lot of experience to pack the right things for a Hiking trip. Try practicing by taking your first few trips somewhere that you’re very familiar with that are close to home so you don’t get overwhelmed. This way you’ll be able to see what you need, what you don’t need, and you’ll get comfortable with where you are and what you’re doing. GOOD LUCK!
